Reasons you should join a club or society at university:

Get involved in university life

Want to meet like-minded people? Or develop a hobby or passion? Joining a university club or society lets you do this and so much more!

Becoming active in a university group is a great way to get involved in the university community, meet new people, and build new skills. Not convinced? Here are five reasons you should join a club or society at a University.

I am from the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, so I will use a good number of DeKUT clubs as examples.

1. Make new friends

Meeting new people can feel intimidating, but you can effortlessly foster new friendships by becoming part of a university club or society. Most clubs and societies host regular social events and activities, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get to know other students, many of whom have also joined to make friends on campus.

2. Discover new interests

With so many clubs and societies to choose from, it’s hard to not find something you’re interested in. But, while it’s great to join groups that share your interests, it’s equally fun to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

3. Belong to a Community

Whether you're a fresh or in any year seeking to engage with the university community, joining a university club or society is an excellent means to establish fresh connections and support networks.

From interest-based clubs to societies aligned with your field of study, you'll undoubtedly discover a community of individuals with whom you can connect and depend for both academic and personal assistance.

4. Learn and practice skills

Classes aren’t the only place on campus where you can learn and refine skills. Joining a university club or society gives you the opportunity to build new professional, academic, and interest-based skills in a different setting – be it on the sports field or a shared community space.

Most employers are looking for evidence that you've applied the skills you've learnt in your studies in practice, and getting involved in a leadership role in a university club or society is a great way to do this, especially if you have limited time.

5. It's easy to join

Finally, joining university clubs and societies is a straightforward process. To become a member, you typically just need to obtain a free membership, which you can easily sign up for online at any time. In some cases, certain clubs and societies might ask for a nominal fee to cover the cost of organizing their activities.

6. It's one of the best ways to travel.

From sports to volunteer trips, you never know what experiences are waiting for you on the other side of the road. The more you participate, the more experience you will gain. Being part of a community provides you with that.

After joining, most student societies will share event details on social media, WhatsApp groups, or via newsletters, so make sure to stay up to date.

CoinMarketCap plugin for ChatGPT

CoinMarketCap recently introduced a new plugin called CoinMarketCap for ChatGPT. A CoinMarketCap plugin or extension is a tool that can be integrated into various platforms to provide real-time and historical data on cryptocurrencies, market trends, and blockchain statistics.

CoinMarketCap for chatGPT is a cool feature that lets you check the latest prices and trends of various cryptocurrencies right from your chat window. By bringing together the power of AI chatbot technology with real-time CoinMarketCap data, the plugin allows users to access updated information on the dynamic crypto market directly from CoinMarketCap.

The plugin also allows users to ask complex questions about cryptocurrencies and receive answers immediately using quite simple prompts. The plugin can analyze the performance of different crypto assets, examine global market patterns, and analyze correlations between tokens and metrics. To access the plugin, users need a ChatGPT Plus subscription and can install it from the plugin store. The premium version of the plugin, powered by ChatGPT4, provides up-to-date crypto data. It is recommended to give specific prompts, refine the tool's work, and work off examples to enhance the quality of answers received.

For both beginners and experts, the CoinMarketCap plugin for chatGPT can be a great way to stay informed and engaged with the crypto world.
